So OCC’s fall/winter 2012 collection is called Heroine, a homage to horror movie heroines.

There are 6 lip tars, 6 nail lacquers, 2 loose colour concentrates and 3 new crème colour concentrates.  The standout colour of the collection is Black Dahlia.

The new packaging!

I had to pick this up! Blood red, oxblood, deep berry, merlot whatever you want to call it is very on trend right now.  It’s very lush and opulent! I love it!!

For those who have not tried them before, the uber-popular Lip Tars are like liquid lip pigments.  They are super concentrated and are perfect for mixing to create customized lip colours.  Most of them dry down to a semi-matte finish and are mostly opaque.

So here’s Black Dahlia.

Swatch

Did I mention that this is a knockout colour!  It is described as a blackest, blackened red.  I would say that this is very deep red plum/grape.  It’s also very cool-toned, but I think that everyone could wear this.  It will look particularly great on those with lighter skintones and very deep skin. Very beautiful.  OCC just recently repackaged their Lip Tars to make the dispensing of the product much easier.  All Lip Tars now also come with the #010S Short Handled Professional Lip Brush.

Instructions!

This colour can be applied quite sheer and built up for opaque coverage.

Swatches, sheer, on the left, full coverage, on the right

Black Dahlia actually dried down to a glossy finish, which is not sticky at all.  I would wear a lip liner, like M.A.C. Nightmoth, and apply with a lip brush because it so dark.

This is a versatile colour, very bold, it can be used to deepened another Lip Tar or you could even add a shimmery topcoat for some added drama.  I highly recommend that you should check out this colour.

Lip Tars are available online at occmakeup.com, the OCC Flagship store in NYC, Sephora stores and sephora.com.  They are US$16 each, but honestly, it’s going to last you forever.  You don’t need more than a drop.

I’ll be posting a look on this one soon!

Laters!!!

Overall Grade: A

I love the possibilities and this is one of the best Lip Tars!
