So April 22nd is Earth Day.  We should all, in our own little way, be doing our part in helping our planet.

When it comes to skincare, I definitely like to keep it natural and this is where eos comes in.  Evolution of smooth (eos) is a natural skincare line with mostly naturally derived products and eye-catching packaging.  I have been testing a few of their products.

First is the Everyday Hand Lotion.

eos Everyday Hand Lotion in Cucumber

The Everyday Hand Lotion  contains the following:

  • Shea butter and aloe which hydrates, softens and moisturizes,
  • Oat, which protects dry, delicate skin,
  • Vitamins C & E, which are powerful antioxidants that rejuvenates the skin.
  • It’s 97% natural, paraben-free, cruelty-free, with no animal by-products.

Comes in 3 flavours – Everyday Hand Lotion, Cucumber Hand Lotion and Berry Blossom Hand Lotion.

First of all, this company gets props for  its packaging.  OMG! The Everyday Hand Lotion looks like a flattened pebble.  What a sleek package!  It neatly can fit into your back pocket.  The plastic package is soft and that makes it squeezable.  The lotion itself has  medium thickness, not thin and runny nor thick.  It applies smoothly and sinks into the skin almost immediately, without leaving your hands greasy.  My hands feel moisturized at least for a few hours, until I wash them again.  This is a really good hand moisturizer.  I think it’s perfect for most of the year, except for the dead of winter, when my hands are super dry, then I would need something more emollient.  I was able to test 2 out of 3 of the lotions – cucumber and berry blossom.  They are not heavily scented and the smell dissipates fairly quickly.  I actually spent quite a bit of time trying to figure out exactly what the cucumber lotion smelt like.  I would recommend this and I think that the most unique part is a the packaging.  These would make great stocking stuffers, goodies in Easter baskets or just as a conversation piece.  This is about $3.99 and available in most pharmacies in the US as well as drugstore.com for my international people.

I also tested for the first time the eos shave cream in vanilla bliss.

eos Shave Cream in Vanilla Bliss

Look at the grooves!

It contains all of the good ingredients as the hand moisturizer and comes in 5 varieties – Pomegranate Raspberry, Vanilla Bliss, Lavender Jasmine, Cucumber Melon, Sensitive (fragrance free).  It’s also paraben-free, cruelty-free and does not contain animal by-products.  The plastic bottle is ergonomic, with little grooves for your fingers for better grip.  The bottle is also made of recyclable rubberized plastic, unlike the majority of shave creams, which are made of stainless steel.  The dispenser is also a pump that does not use a propellant to expel the shave cream.  The packaging makes it easy to use especially with wet fingers.  Inside the bottle contains a non-foaming cream that is quite thick and moisturizing.  As a matter of fact, eos suggests that you could shave both wet and dry.  I  actually tried this without wetting my skin and this is where I ran into problems.  I found in general that the cream is too thick to  be used dry.  Once the cream dried a little, it very quickly clogged the razor  and was a little difficult to rinse out.  So if you reuse your razor, you may not be able to.   I found myself rewetting my skin often as the product dried quickly on my skin as well.  But it did leave my skin well moisturized and super soft!  The smell was nice and it did not linger.   Another good product, but its not great, the texture could be a little thinner.  Again eos products are available at major drugstores and at drugstore.com for about $3.49.

Ahhhhh….the most popular product from eos are their USDA Organic Lip Balm Smooth Spheres.

eos Lip Balm Smooth Spheres

I love this product! I keep one at my bedside and my bag! I wrote a more detailed review here.  The lip balm is 95% organic and 100% natural and is free from parabens, petrolatum, gluten-free and .  It also contains the antioxidant Vitamin E as well as jojoba oil and shea butter, which makes this super emollient and makes my lips super smooth.  The spherical packaging is recyclable and comes in bright, easy-to-identify-at-the-bottom-of-your-bag colours.  The packaging is so innovative.  People always stop and ask me about it when I use it!  Did I say that I love this product? Yes, this is one of the best lip balms that I have tried and works very well on my super dry lips!  The original formula comes in 3 yummy flavours: Honeysuckle Honeydew (which is my absolute favourite!), Sweet Mint and Summer Fruit.

They also have two other balms with additional benefits:  Tangerine, which is a medicated lip balm that provides antibacterial protection from cold sores and chapped lips,

and Lemon Drop, which contains UVA/UVB protection of SPF 15.

These retail for about $3.29 and are available at the eos website, drugstore.com and major pharmacies.  Of all the products tested, this is my must-have, stand out! For more information, make sure to check out the eos website.
