I found a new nude eye shadow! Mally Beauty Evercolor Shadow Stick, a review

Hey!  It’s May allyuh!!!  I can’t believe it!  My favourite season is fast approaching, so I start looking forward to wearing very bronzy colours on the eyes and coraly ones on the cheeks.

A few months ago, I decided that I was going to try something from Mally Roncal’s line, mally.  If you don’ t know, Mally is a celebrity makeup artist, who has worked on some of the top names in the entertainment industry, such as Ms. Jay-Z aka Beyonce.  And I always check out what she has to offer when she appears on QVC, ‘cuz I secretly love her style!  So I headed over to Henri Bendel in NYC and picked up this little beauty:

It’s her Evercolor Long-Wear Shadow Stick.

The shadow stick!

Actually I toyed with the idea of picking up her Evercolor Poreless Face Defender, which is a colourless pressed powder, but you know me with eye makeup.  The Shadow Stick comes in 15 colours and it is part of her high-performance, bulletproof line.  The shadow stick is silicone-based and this allows it to apply to the skin really smoothly.  Just off the bat, the colours are gorgois (that’s her word)! I had a hard time picking just one colour to start with.  The Shadow Sticks are packed in a slim, white pearlescent, twist-up tube and they contain 1.6g of product, which is less than the typical stick eyeshadow.  I ended up picking up the colour Brown.

Brown is a darkened, bronze colour with fine, golden microshimmer.  It is actually a great neutral/nude for ladies with dark skin, it’s like our ‘champagne’.  This is the closest dupe to M.A.C.’s Paint in Dabble, which is still my all-time, single most favourite colour (come nah man, M.A.C.! Repromote this!! …along with Metal Rock MSF).

So as I said before, the product applies very smoothly with no skipping so that the colour applied evenly.  It is also fully opaque in one swipe, so that pigmentation is great as well.  The shimmer is also very fine so that it feels smooth against the skin and subtly reflects the light as opposed to being glittery.  It gives the skin a nice sheen.  The Shadow Stick is also touted to be long-wearing.  I have not come across any literature that says that it’s waterproof.  So I applied the eye shadow to my bare lid and tested it in hot, humid weather.  I don’t have very oily eyelids and got a tiny bit of creasing after about 5-6 hours.  I never got severe creasing, so with a little bit of eye shadow base, this will last all day long, even after a workout, or a day on the beach!! 🙂  If you have oily skin, you may experience more creasing.  I had no problems removing this with my M.A.C. Makeup Remover Wipes.

I really like this product.  This is perfect for travel, very portable and because it melts into the skin so easily, all you need is a finger to smooth it out on the lid – no brushes required!  Grab a couple of colours and you have your entire palette.  It also makes a great base for the bronze smoky eye.  The only draw back is the price.  It’s US$25, but mally is also sold on QVC and they always have special kits.

Overall, I approve of this eye shadow.  I plan to pick up a few more colours for my collection!  If price is not too much of a factor, then I would suggest you try this!  You can find this and other mally items at mallybeauty.com or qvc.com
