The Summer Pixie Dust Collection is so much better than their original spring offering.
Zoya Pixie Dust Summer 2013, Solange, Beatrix, Destiny
L to R: Miranda, Stevie, Liberty
I truly believe that this texture works really well with richly pigmented colours, and not pastels. I love the bright colour mixed with the matte finish mixed with the crystal like glitter. They all accent each other. And since nail art continues to be very popular for the upcoming seasons, you can use these polishes as accents with your more vampy nail colours. For all the polishes, I applied 2 coats in these swatches and note that they are thicker in texture. For the best results, apply as thin of a layer as possible and let dry between layers. Also, when using these, since they are technically a matte nail polish, don’t use a base coat or top coat. I get about 2-3 days of chip –free manicure. The summer collection is still available at the Zoya website and they retail for US$9 each. This media sample was provided to me.
Liberty
Liberty – a deep ocean blue polish with dark blue and silver shimmer. Actually I could see myself wearing this more in the fall rather than then summer. Nice colour but a little deep for me for warm weather.
Stevie
Stevie – a medium toned lavender polish with sliver shimmer. When I first saw this, I was like, wha’ this doing here??? BUT…….this is gorgeous on the nails! And it’s my favourite of the group. The colour is not pastel, it’s still bright enough and the silver glitter really shines through. I love this!
Miranda
Miranda – a bright raspberry pink with silver and light pink shimmer. This reads very cool-toned. Another pretty colour, that I think can be worn in the colder months. The colour itself is not unique, but the Pixie Dust texture gives it some punch.
Destiny
Destiny – a medium red, with light golden shimmer. This might be my least favourite. It’s a nice colour but not rich or spectacular. Also this appears to be the thinnest of all the shades. There is definitely some visible nail line after 2 coats.
Beatrix
Beatrix – an orange creamsicle coloured polish with light golden shimmer. This leans on the warm side as well. Not rich in colour but it’s does remind me of summer. This one also is thin in formulation.
Solange
Solange – A very intense 22k yellow gold polish with gold shimmer. Another fave!! I wore this and my nails shone!! Gorgeous! Even though the shimmer is very close in colour to the base nail polish, it still stands out against the matte polish. It also is the most pigmented and I got almost full opacity in 2 coats. I’ll be wearing this for Christmas! This is a textured version of last year’s Ziv polish. They have a different finish but close in colour.
That’s it! My standouts are Stevie and Solange. Those are my must haves. Again, I am so glad that they created these, because I love this texture. And the fall collection looks quite amazing as well.
