Award winning makeup artist and the blenderella himself Kevin James Bennett recently collaborated with Royal & Langnickel, to create artist quality, synthetic makeup brushes.  As makeup artists and enthusiasts, we are always on the lookout for that one amazing brush that can do everything and be durable for years and KJ Bennett helped create a line of brushes that might just fit that bill!!! For some reason, makeup artist brushes tend to be inferior in quality as compared to those make for painters (especially those using oil paints).   Artist brushes can withstand being soaked in paint, turpentine, alcohol etc, without losing its integrity.  R&L have used state-of-the-art materials to produce a wide array of long-lasting brushes.

The Makeup Show NYC 2011: The Big Show!!

[twitter-follow screen_name=’NoireTropicalB’]

Finally my last post on The Makeup Show! I’ve waited for this all year and it did not disappoint! The biggest show ever, now occupied 2 floors of the Metropolitan Pavilion! I was a little overwhelmed.  More vendors than before and the main theme of the event centred around education of the artist on new techniques, product lines, marketing yourself etc.  One of the best things were the PRO Pods, which allowed experts to connect one-on-one artists to exchange ideas.

I spent the day attending as many workshops that I could and I also did a little bit of shopping (of course!!!).  Met some new people, caught up with some old friends and had an amazing time!!!

Enough talk! Here are the pictures!!! And again, if we took pictures together, tag me or let me know!!!

Enjoy!

NARS Cosmetics made their TMS debut this year and it was one of the first booths that I visited.

The Makeup Show!!!

I’m sooooo excited!!! I attended last year for the first time in NYC and wrote about it here and here.  I met a lot of wonderful people, both bloggers and makeup artists, attended a few of the seminars and thoroughly enjoyed myself visiting all the booths of makeup companies, learning about new brands and picking items from my list.

This 5th year of THS promises to be the biggest and best with dozens of internationally renowned makeup artists and makeup exhibitors.  If you are a makeup artist, you must attend!!  THS will be hosted in NYC on May 15th and 16th.

Here is a list of a few of the artists that are going to be attending:

  • Pati Dubroff
  • Billy B.
  • Sam Fine
  • Kevin James Bennett
  • James Vincent
  • Dany Sanz
  • Danessa Myricks
  • Michael DeVellis
  • Orlando Santiago
  • Johnny Lavoy

IMATS, IMATS, IMATS NYC!!

That’s pretty much what I said when I heard that the International Makeup Artist Tradeshow (IMATS) was finally coming to NYC in 2011.  In L.A. and Toronto, it is usually a must-go event and I was excited! I love going to these shows for a number of reasons,

  1. I get shop a lot of different makeup brands, especially those that are usually online only, at a discount.
  2. I get to meet fellow bloggers and vloggers that I ‘stalk’ on a daily basis
  3. And…I get to take classes taught by some of my favourite celebrity makeup masters.

So I attended last Sunday, which ended up being a great idea as I heard that it was just chaos on Saturday.  I got to SoHo early so I was able to browse the booths with ease.  Even though the show was hosted on multiple levels, there were less vendors than I expected.  There were many of the most popular brands that were not there like M.A.C. and Make Up For Ever.  I think that the organizers played it conservatively and limited the number of attendees and vendors.

I had a short shopping list and as soon as I get there, I headed to those specific booths.  Here’s my mini haul!

Haul!
