"Whey de lime" Fridays: It's NYFW and a tribute to 9/11…

Hey everyone!

Once Labour Day hits and it’s September, summer quickly fades! 🙁

It also means that it is New York Fashion Week again! There are even more people on the streets, in taxis, eating out and the city is buzzing. I hope to find out about any new makeup products being used backstage.

This is also the weekend for the Essence Street Style Block Party in DUMBO, Brooklyn. I promised myself to go to as many events this summer and I think I did a pretty good job! It’s one of the last events happening while the weather is still warm so I need to get my las’ lap in 🙂

Finally, I have to mention 9/11 on this day. I was living in NYC at that time and I remember it quite vividly. Thoughts and prayers to those lost……

“Whey de lime” Fridays! The summer music edition!

Hey!

One of the things that I promised myself is to do as many activities that I can this summer and stop putting it off until ‘later’. Summer officially starts in a few days and with that NYC starts jumpin’!!

I am so excited to see Ms. Lauryn Hill at the Louis Armstrong Wonderful World Fest in Queens. I love her and I am so happy that she is back in the game! She visited Trinidad in the late 90s and she was amazing! Check out the fabulousness below!

Annnnnd, I am also planning to see French/Cuban/Yourban duo Ibeyi at Central Park SummerStage! Check out a vid from their debut album.

A full day of music and culture! A few weeks ago, I saw Angélique Kidjo, the African diva and she was amazing!!!

It’s the weekend of The Makeup Show NYC! And it’s their 10^th anniversary! Very, very excited!! Right now, I am making my list and trying to strategize which classes I am going to take. If you see me, hail me out!

Also, spring has completely forgotten us in the NE, but this weekend it is supposed to be in the low 70s.

Thankful for small victories! 🙂

Hey!

This is my first “Whey de lime” Friday for 2015!! Can you believe that we are already in February, and already previewing Fall/Winter 2015 clothing? It’s NYFW again and it’s the last time that it will be held at Lincoln Centre.

Also this is a huge weekend in Trinidad & Tobago and Brasil! It’s the final stretch to Carnival!! I can’t wait to see who is going to win Band of the Year and King and Queen of the Bands! I am excited for all the colour!!

#FBF: My trip to Turkey! Summa time!

What’s happenin’? How has summer (or winter below the equator!) been?

Mine has been pretty busy. In New York City, it becomes even more active and vibrant. A plethora of cultural events, concerts, exhibits and outdoor activities. I love it here at this time of year!

So what am I looking forward to this weekend? Well for one, it’s my blog’s anniversary on Saturday! Yup, 6 years! Wow! I have not decided if or what special thing I am going to do. Maybe a little retail therapy!
