Just like music that’s African-influenced is in constant play on my iPod, especially during hotter weather, these new, limited-edition pencils are giving me life!

MAC Powerchrome Eye Pencils

Recently released as part of the Temperature Rising Colour Summer 2013 collection,  this is one product  that I wish MAC made perm.   These are like the mostly discontinued Shadesticks, but they have a much smoother, creamier texture that is water-resistant (not waterproof).  These actually remind me of a cross between the Shadesticks and the MAC Paints.

They come in 4 shades, but I picked up 2 of them.

Top: Life’s Luxury, bottom: Copper Strip

Not the most unique colours, but one can never have too many bronze eyeshadows.  The texture, as I mentioned before, is very smooth and does not pull or tug at the eyelids.  They also dry down fairly quickly.  I tested both colours by themselves, without a primer or any powder eye shadow over it and they lasted well over 10 hours with minimal creasing.  I first noticed a tiny amount creasing after about 6.5 to 7 hours, but it did not really progress much further than that.  I conducted my usual ‘workout’ test, and it held up well after dance class.  The packaging is shiny, sleek black plastic with bronze lettering instead of the usual silver lettering.  It appears to be quite small and short and it contains 1.6g of product.  For comparison, NYX Jumbo Pencils have 0.5g, MAC Shadesticks have 1.5g and Make Up For Ever Aqua Shadow pencils have 4g of product.  Powerchrome Pencils can be sharpened when the point becomes dull, which is the only thing I don’t care for.  I prefer pencils that have a twist up function.

So I picked up Copper Strip, which is a gorgeous deep coppery bronze colour with very fine red pearl particles.

Copper Strip

Copper Strip is the colour on the bottom.

It’s beautiful! And the shimmer is not chunky at all.  It leans more red that many of the bronze pencils out there, which I like.  A great colour that works on all skintones!

Life’s Luxury – A very deep, dark chocolate bronze with red pearl.

Life’s Luxury

Life’s Luxury is at the left!

I was most attracted to this one!  Love it!!! This would look amazing on the darkest skintones! This is like your go-to everyday, summer, effortless lid colour!  Also looks amazing on tan, bronzed to  dark skin.

If you can still find these online, or at your local MAC store, get them, throw them in your summer makeup bag, your beach bag, with your toiletries on your summer getaway!

Overall, I love these!  I need to look for backups!  Get them!  These cost US$21 each and are still available online.

Overall Grade: A
