Illamasqua has been on my radar for a while now and I will definitely be partaking of some of their goodies this year! Haven’t heard of them? They are a London-based cosmetics line and their slogan is: “Make-up for your alter ego”. They have enjoyed a rapid assent globally since they started out in 2008, especially since they started selling in the U.S. at Sephora. They are on par with M.A.C. and Make Up For Ever, in terms of having products suitable for stage and for screen. I am actually attracted to their line as they feature a lot of bold, intense colours that work quite well with tan to dark skintones. Based on the reviews that I have read, they appear to make good products, with great formulas and colour payoffs. I like that they don’t go for the super safe neutral looks, which in itself is fine, but sometimes you want something more daring, more mysterious or playful! Really feeding your alter ego!
So just in time for Valentine’s Day, Illamasqua has come out with the THROB Collection and I just love the promo images.
This would actually be a good Valentine’s Day look (minus the pantomime makeup of course!) and a great Queen of Hearts Halloween look!!!
This is what they said about the collection:
“Feel your pulse quicken, your heart throbbing in your chest. These are Illamasqua’s latest offerings at the altar of beauty, guaranteed to make you gasp with pleasure.”
Awaken your mouth’s erotic sensuality with the seductive red of Succubus Intense Lipgloss or enjoy the power of being an unashamedly brazen femme fatale with blood red Sangers Lipstick.”
Throb is a passionate red Nail Varnish, the colour of blood spilled by desperate, rejected lovers. Load is a rich, cream coating for the nails and Scorn’s midnight black matt finish is filled with contempt for the love of convention.”
and here are the products:
Succubus Intense Lipgloss (£13.00) – seductive red
Sangers Lipstick (£15.50) – blood red
Nail Varnish (£13.50) –
- Throb – passionate red
- Load – rich cream
- Scorn – midnight black matt
This is a small collection, but is packs a punch! I love that it’s dark, sexy and passionate and not the usual light and airy feel that you get with a lot of Valentine’s Day collections. I definitely have to check out Sangers lipstick and Load nail varnish!!
These products are already available in the U.K. at the Illamasqua flagship and online stores, Selfridges’s, Debenhams, ASOS.com. This has not yet appeared at Sephora in the U.S. but I am sure that is soon to come and check out your local Illamasqua retailers in Australia and Dubai. They do have international shipping but they unfortunately don’t ship to the West Indies, but they so ship to the U.S….so you know!!!
