Summer, summertime!!!

I’m in the summer mood!!

I’m so excited! Just a few days away from the official start of summer! And these new polishes from Zoya are completely on trend!  This has been the year of brights when it comes to fashion and beauty and Zoya brought out a 12-piece collection, a mix of texture and colour.

I’ll review the first half of the collection here, Beach.

Beach collection from Zoya

Beach is a very bold, sorbet-inspired collection that contains 5 crèmes and 1 shimmer polish. I love these polishes! It just screams, sand, sun and ah beach lime!  I think all of these shades could be worn by anyone even though most of the colours run on the cool side.  I think the brightness gives a great contrast regardless of skin tone.  Anyone with medium-to-dark skin tones should definitely check this collection out.

L to R: Reagan, Lara, Shelby

L to R: Arizona, Tracie, Wednesday

Reagan – this is a deep, raspberry pink crème that leans more on the red side.

Reagan

It is the darkest colour of this collection but it is still very bright.  I wore two coats of this and I was able to get full coverage.  The formula is a little thick, but I had no problems with the application.  I think this colour looks amazing on dark to very dark skin!  It will definitely stand out!

Lara – this is a medium pink crème.

Lara

I was a little confused because it is quite close in colour to Reagan.  From the pictures, they look almost like the same colour.  I would have preferred more of an obvious difference.  With that being said, this is another beautiful colour, that I was able to get two coats for full coverage.  The formula is very similar to Reagan’s so it was easy to work with.

Shelby – a light, candy pink crème.

Shelby

This colour has a lot of white in it and I found that the formula was a little chalky.  I have a bit of a problem with this colour as it applied quite streaky for the first coat, but I was able to smooth this out.  I applied 2 coats but you can still see my nails through the colour.  I think if you are afraid, or you do not favour bright colours, this one will be more up your alley.  It’s more of a classic colour.  I like this one, but it’s not one of my favourites.

Arizona – I was walking down the street trying to think of the best way to describe this colour and it hit me! This colour is New York-taxi cab yellow.  A very bright orange-yellow that looks exactly like the taxis in the city I live in!

It’s also a crème and this one was a little streaky as well on the first coat.  I was able to get good coverage on the second coat, but it could use a third just to make sure.  Quite a unique colour, you don’t see something like this very often.  A gorgeous pedicure colour for those with medium-dark to very dark skin.

Tracie –  A leafy, fern green with silver micro shimmer.

This colour is more muted and softer than these other brighter colours.  Still a beautiful colour and a little different from all the minty greens that we have been getting in the past few months. Two coats are all I needed.

Wednesday – this is my favourite of the group!! A stunning, bright turquoise crème.

There is no shimmer in this one, but it does not need it.  I also applied two coats and it applied just as well as the others.  I love this colour for everyone especially for medium to dark skin tones.

I really like this collection! I love that there are so many bright crèmes! The only thing is I wish there were not 3 pinks.  They could have totally brought out a nice bright coral or purple that would have total blended with the Beach theme.  The formula was generally good and I definitely think that there are a few unique colours that make this collection worth checking out.  Zoya products are available online for $8 each from zoya.com
