LOTD: Using MUFE's Maize Gold

So I am finally getting around to using one of the new Makeup For Ever Metal Effect Powders in #2, Maize Gold.  Brilliant burnished golden powder.  I had no problems using this colour.  Intense  pigmentation, finely milled, easy to use.  I paired it with one of the few matte pigments that I have, M.A.C. Smoke Signal from the Smoke Signals collection.  It’s a deep, burgundy, shimmer-free colour.  Quite original.

The Details

• UDPP – Apply to the entire lid, using finger.
• M.A.C. Smoke Signal – using a tapered blending brush, like M.A.C.’s 226 or 224, apply to the outer and the inner lid and blend into the crease.  Make sure to keep the center of the lid clean.
• M.A.C. Cork –  or other neutral shadow that is close to your skin colour, use the 224 and apply to the crease to help blend out the Smoke Signal.  Also apply to the browbone as a subtle highlight.
• MUFE # 2 – Using a flat, shader brush like M.A.C.’s 239 or 242 and add some Maize Gold to the brush.  Then add 1-2 sprays to M.A.C. Fix+ to intensify the pigment and apply in a patting motion to the center of the lid.  Using small circular motions, blend the gold into the Smoke Signal.  Also blend into the crease.
• M.A.C. Superslick Liquid Eye Liner in On The Hunt – Apply a thin line to the upper lashline.
• M.A.C. Kohl Power Eye Pencil in Feline – Apply to the lower waterline and smudge into the outer lashline.
• Lancome Hypnose Drama mascara – to top lashes.

That’s it!!! This would make a great Halloween look, because the gold and the burgundy are so contrasting, with the difference in colour and texture.  I got a lot of compliments on this one, works great for those with olive to darker skin tones!! Try a less intense gold for those with lighter skin tones, but everyone should try this.  It’s an easy look that anyone could do!
