The holidays are fast approaching! NARS 2011 Holiday Collection

This year has flown by at break-neck speed and holiday collections are already out! Christmas is my favourite holiday! There is something about the mood of everyone that I love, the excitement, the decorations, toute bhagi!!!!!!

NARS Holiday 2011

NARS continues the trend of opulence, glamour, bold colour and modern retro-ness (which by the way I LOVE!!!!!!! I am kinda tired of the neutral, understated classic-ness of the past few seasons!).

The NARS Holiday 2011 Collection is decidedly decadent. Bold, shimmery lips are paired with rich eye color and a classic cheek. Lips offer the perfect balance of luminous and matte shades. Eyes smolder in exquisite, mysterious black hues infused with red, purple, gunmetal pearl, or shimmer. For a dramatic finishing touch, skin is set aglow with rose cream laced with gold. SSkin is set aglow with rose cream laced with gold, and lips are finished with semi-matte amber red.  The finished look is haute couture, dramatic and opulent.  Staring Italian beauty Mariacarla Boscono, the campaign was designed and photographed by NARS Founder and Creative Director François Nars.

The Inspiration:

“Marc had a lot of images of Patsy Klein, Amy Winehouse, and Cowboy Kate, a book from the 60’s whose character Kate had heavy eyelashes,” said Founder and Creative Director François Nars. “The complexion is meant to look like it’s glowing, like the girls have been dancing, and by eliminating the blush it gives a strange, otherworldly effect. The focus was really on the eye, with a well-defined brow. The combination of different touches creates a decadent, French sensuality and makes the girls more like characters.”

Fashion's Night Out 2011

The prequel to New York Fashion Week is here and it starts tomorrow.  Not only is it in NYC, but it has expanded to cities across the U.S. and around the world.  On September 8th, the fashion and beauty world is going to go mad with lots of limited edition items, parties, special FNO-exclusive events and general revalry!

I am just planning my list of places to hit (shame, I know!), and the FNO website has a pretty cool feature where you can map out your route through the streets of New York.
