A few months ago, I attended the NYC launch of the newest BB Creams on the market from pro/celebrity makeup artist AJ Crimson.

AJ Crimson Launch party NYC
I first heard about AJ’s foray into the cosmetic world, when he collaborated on the lip line Kissable Couture. He introduced some amazing, high shine liquid lacquers that have been a favourite amongst celebrities, especially those of colour.
The event was held at in midtown together with Ofra Cosmetics (who are the manufactures of this hybrid BB+D cream). A few days before, I had heard the buzz about these creams as they come in 8…8 shades!!
I know it’s 2013 and all, but the vast majority of companies who bring BB creams out to market, do not cater to women who are deep tan to deep dark in skin tone. The best you could get would be café au lait. I don’t know what else to say, apparently we don’t need foundations etc. like everyone else.
I got the amazing opportunity to meet and chat with Mr. A.J. Crimson for a few minutes!

He was very friendly and quite down to earth. He stated that he wondered what could he leave the makeup world with, if he ever decided to step away for good, what would be his impact and hence he created a multi-purpose BB Cream for all women, including the darkest of us. He wanted each women to be able to create a look that is unique to her, where she would not look like anyone else. This is what he was know for amongst his celebrity clients like Amerie, Estelle and Keri Hilson. He believes that women should use maybe 2 or 3 shades to give themselves a more realistic, 3-D look. As of now, his creams are available online here and shipping it to the US only. Eventually he’s looking to branch out into England, Europe, globally. The 8 shades directly correspond to his crème foundations and in the next few months he intends to introduce 4 new shades (to make a total of 12), that are on the lighter end of the spectrum. Right now his lightest shades are actually pretty dark (around a M.A.C. NC 30) and his darkest shade is probably MAC NW 55 (as a matter of fact its one of the darkest shades that I have ever seen in a foundation colour).
I was colour matched to shades 7 and 8 (for when I get really dark in the Caribbean heat!) and I even got one of my tubes signed! I also met some amazing people there. Special shoutout to Miyako, Francine, Buchi, David and Ofra (of Ofra Cosmetics).
Could I just say that I love the promo video?? Very cute, professional! It features Adrienne Bailon, LaToya Luckett and Alexandra Burke.

I will give more detail and review the creams at a later date. All I can say is that if you are a woman of colour, you should check these out, now!
