The quest for orange lips has begun! Bite Beauty's High Pigment Pencil in Zinfandel review

NB: Nothing to declare! Product mentioned bought by me!

Summer peach chronicles continue…..

A brand that has been picking up steam here in the US is another Canadian- based company that creates mostly natural lip products.  Bite Beauty is found in Sephora and they just opened up a pop-up shop in Soho, where you can get a custom made lip product!

I think that Bite made its first appearance at The Makeup Show NYC this year.  I was walking by and I was attracted to the boldly pigmented lip colours.  I picked up their High Pigment Pencil with Resveratrol in Zinfandel.

Bite Beauty

Resveratrol has been a hot ingredient in cosmetics for a few years now.  It is found in the skins of the red grape and is touted for it high anti-oxidant properties.  This lip pencil also is made from 97% natural ingredients.

The High Pigment Matte Pencil (HPP) comes in matte grey plastic packaging with twist-up function to advance the product inside so there is no need to sharpen.

My Chagrin Valley shampoo bars review!

NB: Nothing to declare! Product mentioned bought by me!

Chagrin Valley Soap and Salve products!

For the last few months, I have been testing out the two shampoo bars that I purchased from Chagrin Valley.  I have not had too much experience with Shampoo bars and previously I had only used the babassu bars from Anita Grant.  I have been a fan of liquid cleaners as they are more likely to lather (which by the way, assuming they don’t contain sulphates, assist in removing grease and dirt from the hair, but they are not absolutely necessary for cleansing).  Plus the fact, I am not a fan of soap melting away in the bathroom, but I decided to give them a try.  I purchased the Babassu Marsh Mallow and the Butter Bar Conditioner Shampoo Bars.  I got about 7oz. in each bar for about US$8.

See how large the bar is!!! Covers my entire hand!

Good value!  I cut off pieces of the bar as I needed it.

Babassu Marsh Mallow Shampoo Bar – 7oz.

Babassu Marsh Mallow Shampoo Bar –  The main ingredients are Babassu oil, which is great for thick hair and helps with restoring strength and elasticity,  and marsh mallow root, which a well-known botanical used for its detangling, softening and hydrating properties.  This bar had a citrusy, herbal scent that dissipated when rinsed.  I parted my hair into quarters and I was able to get a pretty decent lather from the bar.  It did not strip my hair of its moisture but neither was it super moisturizing.  My scalp looked/felt clean and it did not itch while I was washing it.   I also did not notice any significant ease in detangling.  This was a generally a good bar, not amazing, but I would repurchase.

So Google recently announced that they are shutting down Google Reader on July 1st, as they try to streamline things over at Google HQ.   I actually started using another RSS reader, Bloglovin’ a while ago to catch up on the latest post by my favourite blogs.  Gone are the days of having to visit each blog invidually.  I like the idea of logging into one website and getting caught up with the latest beauty lemmings or more pics/thoughts from my ultimate TV show Scandal!  You can find many blogs listed on Bloglovin’ and the user interface is simple and easy to read.  I also like the idea that I can make comments on a blog post directly without having to be forwarded to the actual blog and they have apps for iPhone/iPad and will probably come out with an app for Android soon enough.

  • So……sign up here for Bloglovin’…
  • Then follow me here…….you do want to see my latest musings!
  • If you already have a Bloglovin’ account you can transfer your Google Reader RSS feeds (and other readers) by clicking here.

That’s it!  And while you are at it, check me out on other social media sites!

So, see you soon!

Laters!

These MAC Powerchrome eye pencils are going to be in heavy rotation this summer!

Note: These products were purchased by me.

Just like music that’s African-influenced is in constant play on my iPod, especially during hotter weather, these new, limited-edition pencils are giving me life!

MAC Powerchrome Eye Pencils

Recently released as part of the Temperature Rising Colour Summer 2013 collection,  this is one product  that I wish MAC made perm.   These are like the mostly discontinued Shadesticks, but they have a much smoother, creamier texture that is water-resistant (not waterproof).  These actually remind me of a cross between the Shadesticks and the MAC Paints.

They come in 4 shades, but I picked up 2 of them.

Top: Life’s Luxury, bottom: Copper Strip
