OPI Hong Kong Collection, image courtesy of OPI
So OPI brings out a bumper collection of 12 shades for Spring/Summer. Inspired by the cosmopolitian city of Hong Kong, they give us a lot of bold, bright cremes and sparkly, blinged-out shimmers.
I really liked this collection, there is a colour for everyone, cool toned, warmed toned and neutrals.
I only got two of the colours, so far, from Transdesign.com. I could have definately gone for a lot more. But….baby steps!! And transdesign had a great turnaround and great prices!! Note to my Trinis: Transdesign ships internationally, so check out their low prices!
Jade is the New Black, OPI
Jade is the New Black is the colour of the summer. Everyone has been talking about this one (as a matter fact, OPI has done a good job in hyping their recent collections). This colour is a continuation of last year’s hot green colour, but instead of the minty, pastely greens, this one is a bold, deep but bright, leafy green. I love green and this one definately does not disappoint. I think its more wearable than its paler cousins and would look good on all types of skin colours. In my opinion, this one is more sophisticated, would look great as a pop of colour with summer whites and beiges.
Hot & Spicy, OPI
The other colour is Hot & Spicy. This is a beautiful pedicure colour! Coral-orange creme, midtone colour. Like a cantaloupe. Very fresh, very beachy!!! This would look amazing with a tan, bronzey or dark skin. Another hit for OPI. This is photographing more orange than it really is. It’s definitely a dark cantaloupe colour.
I think I’ll next get Bling Dynasty, Meet Me On the Star Ferry and maybe Dim Sum Plum.
Check out this collection at OPI. Temptalia has some great swatches!
What are you going to get????

So I have spoken about Zoya polishes here before. I love that brand! They have a wide variety of colours and they are DBP, toluene, formaldehyde, camphor free and vegan! Great for pregnant ladies and those who want to ‘greenify’ their collection. And they make one of the best nail polish removers on the market that is acetone free!!
Enough of the advert……
So Zoya is having their 2010 Nail Polish Exchange.
This is how I got introduced to the brand last year. I was able to get 8 of their polishes at half price! All you have to do is send in at least 6 bottles of any non-Zoya polish and get polishes of your choice for $3.50 apiece. You’ll probably can’t send these via USPS as they are considered flammable, but your sparkling new Zoya ones aren’t!!!.
I am laying out my old polishes that I want to get rid of and I will be taking advantage of this offer! 🙂 Act fast!! This ends on June 30, 2010.
For more information, check out the Zoya exchange page.
This collection came out on April 1st in the U.S., and while I loooooooove the greasepaint sticks (seriously they were the best thing M.A.C. created in 2009!!), I don’t think you need to pick up every colour. If you picked up the black one from the Style Black collection, or B (blue)or V (violet/purple) from the DSquared collection, you don’t need to pick these colours up from this collection. They’re pretty close. Also most of the colours are pretty dark, where Below Ground and Dirty are the only fairly light ones. These GPSs make great bases and after they have set, they don’t crease or rub off. Works especially well with mineralize eye shadows and those with oily lids. They can also be used as liners or by themselves as eye shadows. I hope M.A.C. makes these permanent! Ahem!…..M.A.C., yuh hearin’ me…!
Seriously, these are good, and I hope they bring out some lighter colours, along with some matte shades.
Top Row (L to R): Industrial, Petrol Blue, Undercurrent, GPS (L to R) - Slick Black, Below Ground, Brown Now, Greengrease, Charred Mauve, Zinc Zone, Dirty.
Must haves: Below Ground (this is a gorgeous bronze, great for summer and it replaces my Gentil Lentil shadestick), Zinc Zone (wonderful steely grey – for the not black but sultry smokey eye).
(only because I wanted more variety!!!)
Maybes:
As for the Pearlglides, they are brightly pigmented and Petrol and are absolutely gorgeous. I did not get any of them as they are NOT safe for use in the waterline !:-(
(Not waterline safe!)
I did not swatch the Prolongwear Lipstain Markers, because I heard a lot of not so good reviews on them. Apparently they don’t last that long at all and you have to wear a lip balm underneath as they are super drying…so they were a no go for me. I think there are cheaper alternatives like the Covergirl markers or the ones from Avon’s Mark line.
For my Trinis: These should be coming out within the next 2 weeks or so at the M.A.C. store at West Mall. Usually the collections come out on a Saturday, so call to find out, cuz they will sell out early!!!! Doh say ah didn’t warn yuh!!!
Until next time….laters!!!!!

So I’m browsing through Target the other day and and to my surprise, there is a section designated for natural/organic hair care products. Now I know that they just started selling Miss Jessie’s products, but there is a whole end display with four different natural lines specifically geared towards people with natural curly, kinky, coily, wavy hair. So you know my heart started racing!!!!!!!
Target now sells Miss Jessie’s, Jane Carter Solution, Curls (for Target) and Shea Moisture. I quickly bypassed Miss Jessie’s as they are not really natural products (although they work quite well), and I have already tried both the Jane Carter (when I was relaxed) and Curls and headed straight for the Shea Moisture line.

Now this is a line that I have seen being sold on 125th Street in Harlem as well as black owned establishments, but I have never tried them. It seems that they have created a new line of all-natural and organic certified products specially for Target. They revamped the packaging, became cruelty-free and incorporated some delicious ingredients found on the Mother Land, like Argan Oil (!) and Shea Butter. This is straight…up…my…alley!
All of these products are available online at Target.com, but they will not be available at all Target locations. I visited the Target on Atlantic Avenue. Check the Target website for availability. I can’t wait to try out what I bought! Review comin’!!!!
Note to my Trinbagonians: I know that Beauty on D’Avenue sells Shea Moisture and that they are looking to expand on their offerings of that line. I know that they are also interested interested in bringing down Jane Carter Solution. So check them out!!!
