Here is the second part of M.A.C.’s holiday collection. Again, not getting anything from here. Especially not the MES. I usually love the MES, but sometimes their textures can be a little inconsistent. The Style Black MES were so amazing, that these are just…meh. The crescent side has a very chunky texture, so it gives me a good reason to pass. There are no must-have, standout products in this collection. Info courtesy Specktra.net
This is the beginning of M.A.C’s massive holiday collection. I have not and probably will not get anything from this collection (gasp!!) ‘cuz, I need to save money and I don’t usually collection palettes or sets. This collection is actually very pretty and I like the packaging, but I. must. resist! Details courtesy Specktra.net

‘The look for the NARS Holiday 2009 Collection is sophisticated and sensual,
featuring shades that are deep and bold with festive shimmer. ‘“For the holidays,
I think it’s a great time to feel beautiful and sexy…with a little bit of movie
star attitude,” says François Nars, Founder and Creative Director of NARS
Cosmetics.
The Details
SOFT TOUCH SHADOW PENCIL New for the NARS Holiday 2009 Collection – the Soft Touch Shadow Pencil has a convenient delivery system and multi-purpose formula. “Pencils are always very handy and easy to use – this one has a wonderful texture and comes in fun, playful shades,” says Nars. It has a smooth, cushiony feel on the lids and great playtime for optimal blending. Use it subtly to line as a highlighter, or more intensely as a base for powders. The pencil comes in three colours:
GODDESS A cool, divinely ethereal, glistening pink champagne that’s worthy of worship.
AIGLE NOIR A smoky, bold black infused with gold shimmer named for the dark, noble raptor that soars the Himalayas – graceful and rare.
SKORPIOS An irresistibly iridescent copper named for the alluring Greek isle of the famous and flamboyant.
POP LIFE VELVET MATTE LIP PENCIL
Coat lips instantly with this bold, bright and modernly matte holly – red hue that
slips on with a velvety texture – a holiday staple with portability and ease of
application.
TOUNDRA VELVET MATTE LIP PENCIL
This richly pigmented Barolo wine shade is creamy, long-lasting and matte for
strong, seamless color and a perfectly defined pout.
ROUGE ANDALOU NAIL POLISH
Lasting and lustrous, like its namesake region – this classic, incandescent candy
apple red nail hue is sultry, sexy and steeped in tradition.
BROUSSE DUO EYESHADOW
Deep, subtly shimmering hues of eggplant and the darkest wood create an
earthy, yet sophisticated palette – a perfect pairing for layering up to the brow
or lining for shape and definition. Try swiping one shade over the eyelid and
applying the other beneath the brow bone to highlight. No matter the technique,
the effect will be decidedly dramatic.
EURYDICE DUO EYESHADOW
Bordeaux with hints of iridescent blues and coal rich with metallic greens make
for a modern holiday pairing. They can be used along the upper or lower lash
line: Swipe on the upper lid for use as a shadow or use underneath the eye as a
liner. Layered or alone, these shades are bold and impressive.
TAÏGA DUO EYESHADOW
A surprising contrast of bright, yet intense hues in the sheerest of textures. Apply
the twinkling frost shade to the inner eye, extending up to the brow to illuminate;
line the upper lid with the glittering garland green for a look that’s faultlessly
festive.
MOUSSON EYESHADOW
This shimmering, spicy pine cream eyeshadow is named for the monsoon –
natural and unpredictable. It has richness and depth, yet is lightweight in texture,
allowing for a surprising range of color and intensity – from daring to delicate.
This looks very women of colour-friendly! I’ve been drooling over everything in this collection! I definitely have to check out. NARS is a great product line and their shadows and blushes are highly pigmented. I started getting into NARS during last year’s winter collection.
This collection is now available online and for more information, visit narscosmetics.com
“Twice a year, in the Spring and Fall, Spa Week offers full service spa treatments for only $50 at over 600 participating spas across the United States and Canada. Our goal is to introduce a new generation of consumers to the benefits of a healthy lifestyle and to open up the spa industry to the masses.”
Fifty dollars?? That’s a great price for spa services especially in NYC. One place that is now one of the participants is the new Carol’s Daughter spa, The Back Room. This is at their Harlem Flagship store and it looks beautiful!!!!
Spa Week runs from October 12 -18. For a list of participating spas in your area and for more info, go to spaweek.com
So today I am going to review the Zoya Matte Velvet Fall Collection. I only started wearing Zoya this year when I took advantage of their exchange programme that they had earlier this year. I had always heard great things about this nail polish line and they’ve lived up to the hype! They have more than 300 nail colours and have some of the best colours out there! For the most part their polish applies smoothly and the formula is on the thinner side. They are Big-3 Free, i.e. they don’t contain formaldehyde, toluene and dibutyl phthalate (DBP), which have been linked to health issues. Zoya also does not contain camphor.
Anyway, one of the most anticipated matte lines to come out is the Matte Velvet Fall Collection. As some of y’all may know, matte nails are the hottest nail trend and everybody is coming out with some sort of matte line. A few general points about matte nail polishes. Matte polishes are a little different to the regular polishes. They are meant to have no shine, no gloss, just pure colour. This trend is not for everyone as we are so used to having bright, glossy nails, but I love the change in texture that this finish gives! They also don’t last as long as glossy finishes because of the difference in formula, so they chip a lot faster and are easily affected by water, lotions, oils, creams etc. Lastly, they are not meant to be worn with any base coat, top coat, primers, anything!!! Just you and your bare nails! So there is a risk of getting stained nails as well. If you are iffy about they whole matte look and don’t want to spend $$$ on buying separate polishes, there are a lot of matte top coats out there to try. I have the Essie Matte About You. Mattes also run the gamut from completely flat and chalky to glittery, semi-matte satin.
