Here is a bright look for the summer! I used one of the most popular colours for the season, coral, but made it wearable for everyone with a light application. Of course, you can intensify the look by adding a bright liner on the lower lashline, like green, gold or turquoise.
So right after the Blogger Preview, I attended the New York Groove Party. Some of the top celebrity makeup artists were asked to create a look that represented New York for them. I thought that it was amazing that the bloggers were given the opportunity to have a close-up view of these amazing artists at work and to chat with them, in such a relaxed atmosphere! The artistry was phenomenal and the night was lots of fun!! I’m going to let the photos speak for themselves. Another shout out to some more of the people that I met – bloggers Milly from Beauty Logic (hey gyul, you’ve met yet another Trini in New York!), and Lianne from The Makeup Girl, makeup artist Stephanie Flor, and the amazing Ms. Crystal Wright. If you are a makeup artist or stylist and don’t know who she is, you should.
Off to the photos!!!
Stunning body painting from Dany Sanz & Make Up For Ever!
Finally my review of The Makeup Show NYC!! I have been waiting for this event all year!! I attended for the first time last year and it was an amazing experience!!! See my review from last year here and here.
This year I attended as a beauty blogger and I had the honour to attend the Blogger Preview and New Groove event the night before the big show. I was super excited!!!!!
My Saturday afternoon started in Chelsea in NYC at the Blogger Preview. This was hosted by celebrity makeup artist James Vincent, who is the Director of Education and Artist Relations for The Makeup Show.
I’m sooooo excited!!! I attended last year for the first time in NYC and wrote about it here and here. I met a lot of wonderful people, both bloggers and makeup artists, attended a few of the seminars and thoroughly enjoyed myself visiting all the booths of makeup companies, learning about new brands and picking items from my list.
This 5th year of THS promises to be the biggest and best with dozens of internationally renowned makeup artists and makeup exhibitors. If you are a makeup artist, you must attend!! THS will be hosted in NYC on May 15th and 16th.
Here is a list of a few of the artists that are going to be attending:
A few weeks ago (actually it was around Valentine’s Day), I had the opportunity to work with Jannelle on a photoshoot to create a poster for her Valentine’s Day belly dance show. I did her makeup and costume styling. We wanted to keep the look very ethereal and soft as the show was a tribute to beauty and amazingness of women.
The costume was stunning!!! Huge tuille skirt, off-white satin top with crystal chains draped across the top. I loved this look! Of course it was very sexy but at the same time very goddess-like and almost angelic. Costume came from Bellydance America.
For the makeup, I wanted the look to still be arabic, but I did not want any harsh lines. The look needed to be soft with a hint of colour to provide some contrast with all the white. I used a light champagne-brown pigment (M.A.C. Cocomotion pigment) with MUFE’s # 58 applied to the outer corner of the eye. This was soft, light application of #58 using M.A.C.’s # 224 brush. Created a tight line of black eyeliner very close to the lashline, and winged out slightly. I lined the lower lashline only halfway, then added lots of mascara. This created a softened version of the khol-lined eyes that Middle Eastern women have made famous. I applied M.A.C. Face and Body foundation in C4. This gave a light, air-brushed finished that I loved. On the cheeks, I used NARS Crazed blush. For the lips, I used Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar in Demure, which is a fuchsia pink with purple. I mixed the lip tar with M.A.C.’s clear lip glass.
