Six sparkling, textured Zoya PixieDust colors.

  • Levi – Beige gold textured PixieDust with medium holographic hexes. Designed to update a classic neutral pixie with a little more glam.
  • Linds – Cherry red textured PixieDust with red and fuchsia glitter to mimic the look of maraschino cherries dipped in sugar.
  • Zooey – Classic pink textured PixieDust laced with a fine thread of gold and medium sized holographic hexes for an added layer of dimension.
  • Cece – Full impact green, textured PixieDust with a thin vein of gold creating a fizzy lemon-lime effect.

I truly believe that this texture works really well with richly pigmented colours, and not pastels.  I love the bright colour mixed with the matte finish mixed with the crystal like glitter.  They all accent each other.  And since nail art continues to be very popular for the upcoming seasons, you can use these polishes as accents with your more vampy nail colours.  For all the polishes, I applied 2 coats in these swatches and note that they are thicker in texture.  For the best results, apply as thin of a layer as possible and let dry between layers.  Also, when using these, since they are technically a matte nail polish, don’t use a base coat or top coat.  I get about 2-3 days of chip –free manicure.  The summer collection is still available at the Zoya website and they retail for US$9 each.   This media sample was provided to me.

Liberty

Liberty –  a deep ocean blue polish with dark blue and silver shimmer.  Actually I could see myself wearing this more in the fall rather than then summer.  Nice colour but a little deep for me for warm weather.

Hey!

A few years ago, matte nails were all the rage in the nail art industry.   I loved having the option to have a non-shiny finish.  But sometimes, depending on the colour, matte nails could look a little…you know…flat.

Now companies have come out with textured nail polish – which is a matte base nail polish but it also includes glitter/shimmer that when it dries, it leaves a sandpaper-like texture to the nails.  Have you ever seen freshly laid asphalt in the summer?  The matte black surface appears to be littered with tiny pieces of shimmer.  Well that’s just what it looks like.  So the matte polish has a sparkly effect when the light catches it.  It actually looks different to a regular shimmer polish or the original Zoya matte polishes.  You could actually see the sand-like texture on the nail.  Very interesting!

For spring, Zoya has brought out a collection called PixieDust and it contains 6 new colours (which I received from Zoya).

Zoya recommends using 1-3 thin coats and for these,  and I used 2 coats for all the swatches.
