So OPI brings out a bumper collection of 12 shades for Spring/Summer. Inspired by the cosmopolitian city of Hong Kong, they give us a lot of bold, bright cremes and sparkly, blinged-out shimmers.
I really liked this collection, there is a colour for everyone, cool toned, warmed toned and neutrals.
I only got two of the colours, so far, from Transdesign.com. I could have definately gone for a lot more. But….baby steps!! And transdesign had a great turnaround and great prices!! Note to my Trinis: Transdesign ships internationally, so check out their low prices!
Jade is the New Black, OPI
Jade is the New Black is the colour of the summer. Everyone has been talking about this one (as a matter fact, OPI has done a good job in hyping their recent collections). This colour is a continuation of last year’s hot green colour, but instead of the minty, pastely greens, this one is a bold, deep but bright, leafy green. I love green and this one definately does not disappoint. I think its more wearable than its paler cousins and would look good on all types of skin colours. In my opinion, this one is more sophisticated, would look great as a pop of colour with summer whites and beiges.
Hot & Spicy, OPI
The other colour is Hot & Spicy. This is a beautiful pedicure colour! Coral-orange creme, midtone colour. Like a cantaloupe. Very fresh, very beachy!!! This would look amazing with a tan, bronzey or dark skin. Another hit for OPI. This is photographing more orange than it really is. It’s definitely a dark cantaloupe colour.
I think I’ll next get Bling Dynasty, Meet Me On the Star Ferry and maybe Dim Sum Plum.
Check out this collection at OPI. Temptalia has some great swatches!
What are you going to get????

M.A.C. continues to roll out collection after collection and Pret a Papier is one of its latest ones.
It’s actually a fairly subtle collection – nothing bright, bold nor too sparkly. This would be a collection for people who are afraid of a lot of colour. It’s mostly neutrals with small elements of summer i.e. peaches and corals. This would also work well for those with fair to tan skin tones.
One item that people might love is the nail lacquer in Originality. This is a bright bronze colour with shimmer and flakies. Flakies????? Yeah, flakies are becoming more and more popular in polishes. They look like flakes, not glitter, but irregular flakes that are suspended in the polish and often they are opalescent or prism-like in the way they look. Very cool! They just add another dimension to the polish. This has a foil-like finish as opposed to a glittery one.
This one did not speak to me. It’s a nice collection – but it’s just that, nice……
I love bolder, brighter, more vibesy colours. So great…..this allows me to save for the upcoming summer stuff. :-)!
Here are a few swatches……….

This collection came out on April 1st in the U.S., and while I loooooooove the greasepaint sticks (seriously they were the best thing M.A.C. created in 2009!!), I don’t think you need to pick up every colour. If you picked up the black one from the Style Black collection, or B (blue)or V (violet/purple) from the DSquared collection, you don’t need to pick these colours up from this collection. They’re pretty close. Also most of the colours are pretty dark, where Below Ground and Dirty are the only fairly light ones. These GPSs make great bases and after they have set, they don’t crease or rub off. Works especially well with mineralize eye shadows and those with oily lids. They can also be used as liners or by themselves as eye shadows. I hope M.A.C. makes these permanent! Ahem!…..M.A.C., yuh hearin’ me…!
Seriously, these are good, and I hope they bring out some lighter colours, along with some matte shades.
Top Row (L to R): Industrial, Petrol Blue, Undercurrent, GPS (L to R) - Slick Black, Below Ground, Brown Now, Greengrease, Charred Mauve, Zinc Zone, Dirty.
Must haves: Below Ground (this is a gorgeous bronze, great for summer and it replaces my Gentil Lentil shadestick), Zinc Zone (wonderful steely grey – for the not black but sultry smokey eye).
Overall Grade: A-
(only because I wanted more variety!!!)
Maybes:
As for the Pearlglides, they are brightly pigmented and Petrol and are absolutely gorgeous. I did not get any of them as they are NOT safe for use in the waterline !:-(
Overall Grade: B+
(Not waterline safe!)
I did not swatch the Prolongwear Lipstain Markers, because I heard a lot of not so good reviews on them. Apparently they don’t last that long at all and you have to wear a lip balm underneath as they are super drying…so they were a no go for me. I think there are cheaper alternatives like the Covergirl markers or the ones from Avon’s Mark line.
For my Trinis: These should be coming out within the next 2 weeks or so at the M.A.C. store at West Mall. Usually the collections come out on a Saturday, so call to find out, cuz they will sell out early!!!! Doh say ah didn’t warn yuh!!!
Until next time….laters!!!!!
FTC Disclosure: These products were bought by me. For more information on my Disclosure policy, please check out my disclosure page.
So M.A.C. is coming fast and furious with their collections. Seriously, they bring out a collection at least once every two weeks!!! Bad for the wallet, but ah still lovin’ it!!! The next collections are right up my alley, bold vibrant colours, great for spring, summer and de blazin’ heat in Trinbago!!!!!!
Art Supplies
I mentioned in one of my previous posts, that the M.A.C. greasepaints were one of the BESS products for 2009!!! This is what the shadesticks were supposed to be…super creamy, highly pigmented, and great as a base or used alone as shadow. So M.A.C. brings back the GPS in a variety of colours. Love the packaging, love the colours even more! OMG, I am super excited!!!!!!!!!! But get them fast, they’ll be around for a limited time. I sincerely hope that M.A.C. eventually makes them permanent, just like they did for the Dazzleglasses (which were super popular). Especially since they have discontinued a lot of the shadesticks.

Another collection with special edition packaging!! Now this is the one that I’ve been waiting all year for!!!! I am a sucka for packaging and I don’t think this one will disappoint! The blogosphere has been abuzz for months about the bluish-greenish nail lacquer, Blue India and you know I have to add that to my collection!!!!!!:-) I also did not get the Dirty Plum blush from the Riveting collection (even though it is a PRO colour) just so that I could get it from the this collection. I love the white background with the bright bird motif! I would love to get the scarf too, but…….it will literally break my bank and I have to get some stuff from the To The Beach collection coming out in May. Swatches to come!
