Allyuh know who Sam Fine is?? He is a legend and pioneer in the makeup industry and has worked on pretty much every woman of colour out there, from Iman, Nancy Wilson, Naomi Campbell and Ru Paul to Tyra Banks, Mary J. Blige and Queen Latifah.  As a matter of fact, the very first makeup book that I bought was his, Fine Beauty.

When none of the mainstream prestige companies made makeup for women of colour, Fashion Fair was there.  It was the first brand many people bought, often through generations of women.

The global prestige cosmetics brand for women of color appoints celebrity makeup artist Sam Fine as its Creative Makeup Director.

In his new role as Creative Makeup Director, Fine, a 20 year makeup artist veteran, will apply his accumulated artistic acumen and fuse it with Fashion Fair’s brand DNA, to advise on the creation of new products, enrich its color palette and make in-store appearances.  In 2012, Fashion Fair will unveil Sam Fine for Fashion Fair trend collections, starting spring 2012.

For more information, see fashionfair.com.  I can’t wait to see what comes out!

Is it a lipstick or a lipgloss??

It’s a lip creme actually! I’m talking about the new Soft Matte Lip Cremes from NYX Cosmetics.  This is the last part of my mini haul.  These products came out earlier this year and there has been a lot of buzz surrounding these.  The Lip Cremes come in packaging similar to the typical lip gloss with matte, rubberized caps and the doe foot applicator.  The lip cremes are supposed to be more pigmented than a lip gloss but more moisturizing than a matte lipstick.  These come in 11 colours and I paid $4.50 each from beautyjoint.com.  What a steal!  These products are similar to the Stila Long Wear Liquid Lip Color.

I purchased 3 colours:

Matte is back! NYX Matte Lipstick review

[twitter-follow screen_name=’NoireTropicalB’]

Having spent years in the shadow of the gooey lipgloss, lipsticks have roared back to the forefront and matte lipsticks have been at the centre of the trend!  This year, bright, bold matte lips were all over the runway and in every magazine and the trend continues into the autumn/winter.  Years ago, dark, vampy, matte lips were routine but they got a bad reputation because they were often very drying, accentuated any cracks in your lips and generally not comfortable.  Fast forward to now and the formulas have been revamped.  Conditioners have been added to these densely pigmented lip products to make them a lot more wearable.

NYX just recently launched a new line of matte lipsticks in 22 colours.  I ordered 2 of them to start wih from beautyjoint.com and I paid $4.99 each.
