Hey!!
So I have wanted to do a look inspired by Adele for a long time now. Adele is an amazing chanteuse! I love her voice, her look, her style, vibes, everything! Her albums are full of true, true tabanca songs. She’s just stunning to me!
Adele’s signature style seems to be modern 60’s makeup. The focus is always the eyes, winged out liner, full, flirty lashes and the rest of the face is understated. Nude lips, matte foundation, cheek contouring and not a lot of shimmer. She also follows this up with full, sexy, voluminous hair and spiked nails. I love it all! It matches her personality and curvy figure well and I hope she does not succumb to societal pressures.
Anyway, I saw the October 2011 cover of Vogue UK and had to a look based on it.

A great close up photo, with a smokey eye, full lashes. Very, very sexy! Actually there does not seem to have too much going on but it is very dramatic and sultry.
Adele inspired LOTD
I toned this down a bit because I was wearing this during the day, but you can amp this up by adding heavier liner on the lower lashline and smudge it out with some black or grey eye shadow. I also used a tinted moisturizer to keep the look fresh, but use a foundation with a more matte finish if you are going to wear this at night.
Here are the details…
- Apply an eye primer of your choice all over the upper and lower eyelid. I used Too Faced Shadow Insurance.
- Groom your brows. Adele’s brows are filled in but not heavily and they match her hair colour. I used M.A.C.’s Brow Set in Show Off (which has a reddish tint, I really like this product) to define my brows.
- Apply a light layer of Inglot Freedom System Matte eye shadow #368 to highlight the browbone. This a light, peachy matte eye shadow.
- Apply M.A.C.Matte2 eye shadow in Handwritten a matte cool-toned midtone brown colour. Using a soft, fluffy eye shadow brush like M.A.C.#217, define the crease. Start at the outer corner of the eye and apply along the crease of the eye using soft strokes all the way to the middle of the eyelid.
- Apply M.A.C. Matte2 eye shadow in Signed, Sealed – a darker, cool-toned brown to deepen the crease some more. Use a pointed brush like M.A.C.’s 227 or a pencil brush.
- On the lid, use a light, taupe colour or anything neutral. Adele’s makeup is matte but I chose something shimmery to use. I used M.A.C.’s Pigment in Sweet Sienna and a flat, eye shadow brush like M.A.C.’s #239. Apply the colour all over the lid. I also applied this colour all along the lower lashline.
- Using Inglot Matte Collection AMC Eye Liner Gel in #77 (which is a sooty, black colour) and Make Up For Ever’s 1N synthetic eye liner brush, line the upper lashline and wing it out
- Apply mascara of choice on both upper and lower lashes. I used Maybelline Falsies Flared in Blackest Black.
- Apply false lashes, if desired. I used Ardell Lashes in # 305, which are natural, half lashes/accents. If you are new to false eye lashes and have trouble applying, try these as they are easier to use. I applied them to the outer eyelash area. These help accentuate the winged effect of the eye.
- On the face, I used Becca Luminous Skin Colour Tinted Moisturizer in Mink – All over the face using a damp sponge.
- I did some very slight contouring of the cheekbone using Handwritten and M.A.C.’s #224 brush, which is a fluffy brush.
- On the lips, I kept it nude. M.A.C. Chestnut lipliner and 5N lipstick. NYX’s Maison lipstick would be great for this look too!
Again, intensify the look by adding more eyeliner on the lower lashline. Keep the waterline clean.
That’s it!
Laters!
came out looking good 🙂
Thanks!!
