Review coming soon!
Bonjour! Ça va?
This is my first review of Laura Mercier products. I was instantly attracted to the beautiful, bold, punchy colours. The Très Chic collection is a limited edition, spring nail collection consisting of 5 colours that range from pastel to bright.
I picked up the two that I thought were going to be my favourites and I love them!! The polishes are contained in short, square bottles and are slightly smaller than the typical nail polish – 0.35 fl. oz. (10.35 ml) vs. 0.5 fl. oz. (15 ml) and they cost US$18 each. So the price is a little costly. The brush is short, and not like the Pro-Wides that you get with OPI. For those with long nail beds, you may have to use more strokes than you normally would. The formula is a little on the thin side, but smooth. I used 2 coats in the swatches, but I could have done with an additional one. Drying time is pretty fast. The formula is good, and standard for what is out there. They are also Big 3 free.
Onto the swatches!
The first one I picked up is Cabana.

Hey! It’s May allyuh!!! I can’t believe it! My favourite season is fast approaching, so I start looking forward to wearing very bronzy colours on the eyes and coraly ones on the cheeks.
A few months ago, I decided that I was going to try something from Mally Roncal’s line, mally. If you don’ t know, Mally is a celebrity makeup artist, who has worked on some of the top names in the entertainment industry, such as Ms. Jay-Z aka Beyonce. And I always check out what she has to offer when she appears on QVC, ‘cuz I secretly love her style! So I headed over to Henri Bendel in NYC and picked up this little beauty:

Hey!
So Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics, is releasing their Spring/Summer 2012 collection on March 23rd. Closely following the hot trends of bold, saturated colours and colour-blocking, OCC presents The Garden.
From OCC:
Spring has sprung at OCC and hidden among the lilacs and pansies is a different shade of floral. Inspired by psychotropic and poisonous plants, this collection turns traditional spring pastels upside down, injecting them with hallucinatory notes of nearly-neon vibrancy. Mixed in are more subtle neutral lip shades, meant to be paired with a dizzying flash of color on the eyes, in this garden of earthly (and unearthly) delights.

When Lori Taylor tweeted last December about some new lipsticks that Smashbox was bringing out, I was intrigued! I was eager to feed my newfound passion for lipsticks. Fast forward to the new year and I couldn’t wait to place my order!
Smashbox’s Be Legendary Lipsticks are new for Spring/Summer 2012.
Smashbox's Be Legendary Lipstick
There are 22 shades, from neutrals to brights to deeps and they also come into a variety of textures from mattes to creams to shimmers. Smashbox also added shea butter and antioxidants Vitamin A and E for the creamy lipsticks. The shea butter adds creaminess and moisturization properties and the essential vitamins act as antioxidants and therefore can protect the lips. The matte shades also contains Vitamins A and E.
So there has always been a desire to have long-wearing makeup and now pretty much every major cosmetic line brings out makeup that promises to last and last. No one wants to work on a look only for it to crease an hour later.
Just in time for this season and NYFW, Maybelline brought out 10 new shades for their new Color Tattoo By EyeStudio 24hr Eye Shadow. These come in glass pots with black screw caps that look very similar to M.A.C.’s Paint Pots. Speaking of Paint Pots, they contain 5 gms of product while the Maybelline product contains 4 gms. The thick-walled glass makes the containers durable and I had no problems with the seal on the cap. I really liked that Maybelline chose to release a good mix of really bright, bold colours, with some neutrals as well as both shimmer and non-shimmer textures. They are described as a cream/gel and again the texture is very similar to the Paint Pots. Very creamy and smooth, although the shimmer shade that I tried was slightly less creamy than the matte shade. They also have really good pigmentation and they can be applied lightly for a sheer wash or more heavily for and opaque finish. Dry time is pretty quick so that you have to work quickly to apply product to the eye. Typically for a creamy product that comes out of a pot, I use a stainless steel palette knife but you could also use a synthetic brush or your fingers to scoop out the product! Maybelline has marketed this new product as just a cream eye shadow, without use a base or in combination of other shadows. I tested this new item on my upper eyelid, without the aid of a primer or setting with a powder eyeshadow. I got about 5 hours of wear before I saw the first signs of creasing and it was minimal. While my eye shadow looked fine for the rest of the day, I don’t think that this will last for 24 hrs. Which is not a bad thing anyway. Who really needs all that?
Now to the colours!
The first is #35 Tough as Taupe.

Recently I attended the launch of Make Up For Ever’s new lipstick line, Rouge Artist Natural.
Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Natural lipsticks
A few years ago, they brought out Rouge Artist Intense, a 50+ collection of amazing, heavily pigmented lipsticks. This time around, for Spring 2012, they are releasing another 50 lipsticks, which are supposed to provide a softer effect on the lips. These lipsticks are more moisturizing, and have a glossy sheen to them, as if they were mixed with a little lip gloss.
So I decided to pick up one colour for starters, N28.
So the Daphne Guinness collection from M.A.C. came out right after Christmas and there was only one item that I wanted from this limited edition collection – the Vintage Grape Blush Ombre. The Blush Ombres were first introduced about 2 years ago with the Spring Colour Forcast collection. I missed out on this and all everyone spoke about were these blush ombres; how versatile, how amazing, how cute etc. These things sold like hot bread and I showed up after de bakery closed!
So I promised myself to pick up Vintage Grape if it was ever repromoted. And here it is!

Hey!!
So I have wanted to do a look inspired by Adele for a long time now. Adele is an amazing chanteuse! I love her voice, her look, her style, vibes, everything! Her albums are full of true, true tabanca songs. She’s just stunning to me!
Adele’s signature style seems to be modern 60′s makeup. The focus is always the eyes, winged out liner, full, flirty lashes and the rest of the face is understated. Nude lips, matte foundation, cheek contouring and not a lot of shimmer. She also follows this up with full, sexy, voluminous hair and spiked nails. I love it all! It matches her personality and curvy figure well and I hope she does not succumb to societal pressures.
Anyway, I saw the October 2011 cover of Vogue UK and had to a look based on it.
