How to: Witch inspired Halloween makeup using OCC “Hex” Lip Tar

Halloween. A holiday that I am not crazy about. But I love to see people dressing up in different costumes especially here in New York City, where one of the largest Halloween street parades happens in the Village.

A few weeks ago, I attended the Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Fall 2017 launch called “The Season of the Witch”. This is an entire collection inspired by witches, wizardry and it’s very autumnal! The stand out Lip Tar from this collection is called ‘Hex’, a very plummy, reddish-purple with gold and silver microglitter. So pretty and it looks great on dark skin. The collection also contains 5 other Lip Tars, 6 Loose Colour Concentrates and 2 nail lacquers.

I really wanted to incorporate Hex into a look and decided that this would be great as inspiration for a Halloween look. This is my ‘not dressing up, but still wearing makeup’ Halloween makeup tutorial. Of course you wear this with your costume, to a party, trick-or-treating or anytime you are looking for a twist on a smoky eye.

How to get: Rihanna makeup from ‘Wild Thoughts’ – bold eyes & red lips

I have a love-hate thing with Rihanna. I still don’t think she has a great voice, but her songwriters? Boss! And I love her take no prisoners attitude. She lives her life on her own terms and I can roll with that! She recently appears in a new hit, in collaboration with DJ Khaled and Bryson Tiller. DJ Khaled sampled a portion of the song ‘Maria Maria’ by Carlos Santana. But RiRi and crew flipped it, Caribbeanised it and made it fresh again. The video is fire! Rihanna’s makeup is fire! Reminds me a lot of a few of her other videos featuring Jamaican/Caribbean dancehall scenes. It took me a long time to figure out what she was saying – ‘Wha Wha Wha Tho’ – that’s what I heard.

This post is about one of her hottest looks.

The one with her wearing that sexy emerald green see-through ruffled dress, turquoise eyes and a red lip. This is an example doing a bold eye and a bold lip with much success. Don’t make the look too complicated or involved.

I had fun with this look. I used a mix of drugstore and more expensive makeup. And of course there is a video with the exact steps!

Hello all!

I have finally put up my first video tutorial! This was a look I did for a MUFE competition. My look was Glam Rock, inspired by the icon Tina Turner!

It’s rather short as it had to comply with the rules of the competition and many of the products were Make Up For Ever.

I hope to create more tutorials in the future. If there is anything you want to see, technique or otherwise, let me know and I will see what I can do! I also hope to do product reviews, and whatever fun stuff that I could think of!
