Fashion's Night Out!!! News & Sightings…

Hi Ladies!

So last night I went to the M.A.C. Store in SoHo as my first stop for Fashion’s Night Out.  I must say that I think this was a great idea and I would not mind seeing it take place every year.  It was great seeing people shopping, eating and having lots of fun! I’m sure that retailers made some extra money. Next to the M.A.C. store was the Rachel Roy pop-up store and there was a long line, with a velvet rope and everything!

Anyway, back to M.A.C. – The store had a constant flow of people going in and coming out.  There were guys serving bottled Coca-Colas and Perrier, finger foods and homemade oreos!  They also wore tight black M.A.C. t-shirts and smudgy, glossy black smoky eyes.  Fabulous!!!!  Performing Artist Janelle Monae was also there and she is absolutely the cutest!!!! First of all, she has this big personality in videos and magazines, but she’s tiny!  She’s was rocking her signature, afro mohawk, pompadour hairstyle and the makeup?? FLAWLESSSSSSSS!!!  I don’t even think she knows what a skin problem is.  It was very simple – neutral lids, pronounced lashes, pale pink blush and lips, flawless foundation.

Eye Primer Review: Too Faced Shadow Insurance vs. Urban Decay Primer Potion

TFSI vs. UDPP

TFSI vs. UDPP

I have been a longtime user of Urban Decay’s Primer Potion (UDPP), but I recently bought the Too Faced Shadow Insurance (TFSI) at Sephora because I wanted to use my V.I.B. coupon.  I have always heard a lot of great things about TFSI and I decided to take the primer plunge.

Off the bat…these are two great, effective products.  There are many similarities between the two.  As mentioned before I have used both of these products with great success.  They basically cost the same amount and possess similar properties.  So are there any differences??? Um…yeh!

Now first, let’s look at the similarities….

Beauty Basics: Eye Shadow Primers

Hi  ladies!

So a lot of people always ask me how come my eye shadows stay on all day (and all night) long, without budging?? The short answer? Skills!!! Nah, just kidding!

The secret weapon that makeup artists and makeup mavens use is the eye shadow primer.  Primers come in different forms and you kinda have to experiment to see which one suits you best. They basically act as a barrier between you eyelid and your shadows.  They provide a smooth surface for shadows to stick to and prevents the natural oils from the lid from smudging your handiwork.  They last all day through work, sweaty gym workouts or just walking around in the heat, humidity or the cold. And they also help keep colours true and make them pop!

Factors to consider when looking for a primer include 1) Skin type: oily or dry, 2) ease of application, 3) price range.  Listed below are some of the most popular primers available and I’ve used them all.

Part 2 of the 3 part limited edition Fall ’09 collection.

This part of the collection consisted of brightly hued single eyeshadows and technakohl liners.  This is probably the most anticipated part of this collection.  Everyone on Specktra has been waiting for these items (btw, if you’re fan of M.A.C., you need to be on Specktra. Period…).
