What you must buy at the Sephora VIB Sale 2017 + wishlist

It’s that time of year! It is early Christmas at Sephora. Today, 10th November is the start of the Sephora VIB Sale 2017. This is Sephora’s biggest shopping event of the year and it only happens annually. In this video, I share all of my product recommendations and items on my wishlist. This is quite a long video, but it is broken down into sections: Haircare, Fragrance, Skincare and Makeup. I will have timestamps listed below to guide you. These are the products that I have loved using, or that I have been lemming for. There are a few items that I included are products that have gotten rave reviews and are well respected and loved.

Last week, Sephora had it’s biannual sale for all it’s Beauty Insiders. Since I am VIB status, I was able to get 15% off of my entire purchase. If you don’t know what the Sephora Beauty Insider programme is, check out this link. It is basically a rewards programme that allows you to accumulate points to redeem samples of new or popular products. I am #TeamSkincare as they say ‘black don’t crack’, but you still have to put in the work and I am trying to stave off the effects of aging as much as possible! So I have a Sephora haul and even did a video about it!!

NEW PRODUCT LAUNCH: Madam C.J. Walker Beauty Culture by Sundial Brands

This is major news! Sundial Brands (the company behind SheaMoisture and Nubian Heritage) is launching a prestige haircare line, Madam C.J. Walker Beauty Culture, that will be available at Sephora on March 4th!  This is a big deal considering that even though the options for natural hair and those with kinky/coily/curly textures have increased dramatically over the last 5-10 years, most of the products are not considered prestige.  They are not the kind of products that are considered ‘luxurious’ enough to be found at a salon or a specialty retail store (although, I don’t know why??)

Anyway, this news makes me quite happy as it brings together the legacy of Madam C.J. Walker, who is the America’s first self-made millionaire, with the modern desire to have high-quality natural-based products for persons of colour.

New Urban Decay Vice3 palette is here!!

Quick swatch! Marc Jacobs Genius Gel Super-Charged Foundation

I have nothing to declare.  Product not retained.

Of course yuh gyul found herself at Sephora on Friday, scoping out the new Marc Jacobs Beauty collection.  He’s got pretty much a full colour line.  Lots of beautiful shades.  I check out the gel foundation….and I must admit that I am impressed!  It comes in 16 shades and it actually has some deeper shades!  I swatched the darkest shade, Cocoa Deep, which is a deep, chocolatey brown that is pretty neutral.

I have not bought this…yet…but I applied some on my jaw line and it was almost an exact match! For reference, I am NW45 in M.A.C.  The formula is very lightweight, smooth  and sank into my skin and looked natural, like my own skin!  It felt amazing!  I would have liked a little bit more red in it, but hats off to Mr. Jacobs for creating a line that caters to women with medium to deeper skintones.  Of course I have not tested this for wear and durability, but don’t be afraid to check it out.  The price tag is rather hefty (US$48 for 1 fl. oz.), but look at it if you can.  Since it is a gel formula, it will probably work well on oily skin.

I hope that eventually the colour range is expanded to include some more medium-dark to deep shades, but I think it’s a good start!!  I can’t vouch for the rest of the collection, so see it for yourself.
