Yesterday M.A.C. brought out a bumper crop of new products, which included the limited edition Alice + Olivia collection, which is really small and selling out fast!!! It’s really small and supposed to be kinda carefree and partylicious.
This collection came out on April 1st in the U.S., and while I loooooooove the greasepaint sticks (seriously they were the best thing M.A.C. created in 2009!!), I don’t think you need to pick up every colour. If you picked up the black one from the Style Black collection, or B (blue)or V (violet/purple) from the DSquared collection, you don’t need to pick these colours up from this collection. They’re pretty close. Also most of the colours are pretty dark, where Below Ground and Dirty are the only fairly light ones. These GPSs make great bases and after they have set, they don’t crease or rub off. Works especially well with mineralize eye shadows and those with oily lids. They can also be used as liners or by themselves as eye shadows. I hope M.A.C. makes these permanent! Ahem!…..M.A.C., yuh hearin’ me…!
Seriously, these are good, and I hope they bring out some lighter colours, along with some matte shades.
Top Row (L to R): Industrial, Petrol Blue, Undercurrent, GPS (L to R) - Slick Black, Below Ground, Brown Now, Greengrease, Charred Mauve, Zinc Zone, Dirty.
Must haves: Below Ground (this is a gorgeous bronze, great for summer and it replaces my Gentil Lentil shadestick), Zinc Zone (wonderful steely grey – for the not black but sultry smokey eye).
Overall Grade: A-
(only because I wanted more variety!!!)
Maybes:
As for the Pearlglides, they are brightly pigmented and Petrol and are absolutely gorgeous. I did not get any of them as they are NOT safe for use in the waterline !:-(
Overall Grade: B+
(Not waterline safe!)
I did not swatch the Prolongwear Lipstain Markers, because I heard a lot of not so good reviews on them. Apparently they don’t last that long at all and you have to wear a lip balm underneath as they are super drying…so they were a no go for me. I think there are cheaper alternatives like the Covergirl markers or the ones from Avon’s Mark line.
For my Trinis: These should be coming out within the next 2 weeks or so at the M.A.C. store at West Mall. Usually the collections come out on a Saturday, so call to find out, cuz they will sell out early!!!! Doh say ah didn’t warn yuh!!!
Until next time….laters!!!!!
FTC Disclosure: These products were bought by me. For more information on my Disclosure policy, please check out my disclosure page.
So I am keeping a limit on what I get at M.A.C. I am just trying to stick to the items that are standout, different, new etc.
Style Black, Cinderfella & Blackfire
As mentioned before, I think that the Style Black collection is quite wearable and sultry!!! I got only 2 items, Cinderfella MES and Blackfire Glimmerglass. Surprisingly I don’t own a lot of grey colours so I snatched this one up. This is going to make a sick smoky eye, and the shimmer is not too large so it does not look gaudy. I had to get one of the Glimmerglasses and Blackfire was my pick. It is basically Beauty Marked in lipgloss form. The formula is similar to the Dazzleglasses, so its a black, sheer, shiny lipgloss with dark burgundy shimmer suspended in it. I did not get the Greasestick as yet because it is supposed to reappear with the DSquared2 collection which is rumoured to come out on Sept 28. September 28 is the date for the DSquared Fashion Show in Milan and they wanted both collections to coincide. I would suggest calling your local M.A.C. counter to check. None of the other items were must haves for me. Check out this cool vid with two different looks from the Style Black collection courtesy MUA Nadine Luke and M.A.C.
So today is a big day in the M.A.C. universe. We have the official launch of Style Black, Dazzleglass Creme and Zoom Fast Black Lash collections. I already previewed the Style Black collection when I attended the sneak peek at the M.A.C. SoHo store on Fashion’s Night Out. I think I am going to get the Greasepaint Stick, MES in Cinderfella and one of the Dazzleglasses, maybe Blackfire.
Continuing on the dark, gothic but sultry theme of the fall, M.A.C. has also added to their mascara collection with Zoom Fast Black Lash. ZFBL is permanent and is supposed to be super duper black!!! I love mascara and I am always on the lookout for the blackest of the blacks. It is also supposed to give dramatic length and volume while taking advantage of sodium hyaluronate which keeps lashes soft, hydrated and flexible. This is definitely another one to add to my mascara wishlist!

The M.A.C. community has been buzzing with anticipation for the launch of the limited edition Dazzleglass Creme collection. Dazzleglass lipglosses have been a major hit for M.A.C. since their arrival a few years ago. They sold out in days M.A.C. re-released them this year as part of their permanent lip collection. The Dazzleglass Cremes are supposed to be like the love child of Dazzleglasses and Cremesheen glass lipglosses. Intense, shimmery, glassy shine combined with medium pigmentation and smooth, non-sticky formula. I for one can’t wait for these!!
