My Zoya haul!

Hey!!

I recently took advantage of the Zoya Polish Exchange program where you could turn in your old, icky polishes and get brand new Zoya polishes for half price!!  This is how I first discovered the line last year and I am forever hooked!!

So I picked 10 polishes – some from their most recent lines and a few classics.

Here’s what i picked out:

Richelle

Richelle – This came out last summer ’09 I think and its a molten bronzey gold, with gold microshimmer.  A classic summer colour.  On me it looks like shimmery neutral, not too dark and not glittery.  Smooth formula.  I used 2 coats, but 3 is needed for total coverage and no visible nail line. This is a safe colour for brown (tan, black, latin, desi, arabic) girls.

Trixie

Trixie– I heard a lot about his colour, as it’s very popular!! It’s a bold, futuristic, shiny foiled white silver.  The shimmer is fine and it has a minx-like foil finish.  I love this!!! It’s kinda like summer whites with an edge!! This would look a-mazing on dark skin as the contrast would make the colour pop!! I expect to see a colour like this in Vogue or SHE Caribbean magazine.  So glad I got this one!

Calypso

Calypso – a midtone, peachy, coraly colour with microshimmer.  Very pretty, good on medium to dark skintones.  Also good for those afraid of bright colours.  This one is pigmented but a soft colour.  As a Trinbagonian, I could not resist this colour, it will work well on a trip to Maracas!

Lazy Day l/s

I think that there is something for everyone.  The colours are very wearable and not too warm or too cool.  The limited edition packaging is really beautiful with at least 4 different colours/designs.  Shadows came in bright avocado green cases with a cream seashell on the cover, the blushes and the highlight powder came in deep olive green casing, the bronzers, lipsticks and lipglosses came in deep orange cases with cream starfish and the eye  and lip pencils were white with a coral design.  While there are quite a few permanent and repromoted items, there were some stand out items:

Do you want to ease into summer? Pret a Papier is here to help!

M.A.C. continues to roll out collection after collection and Pret a Papier is one of its latest ones.

It’s actually a fairly subtle collection – nothing bright, bold nor too sparkly.  This would be a collection for people who are afraid of a lot of colour.  It’s mostly neutrals with small elements of summer i.e. peaches and corals. This would also work well for those with fair to tan skin tones.

One item that people might love is the nail lacquer in Originality. This is a bright bronze colour with shimmer and flakies.  Flakies????? Yeah, flakies are becoming more and more popular in polishes.  They look like flakes, not glitter, but irregular flakes that are suspended in the polish and often they are opalescent or prism-like in the way they look.  Very cool!  They just add another dimension to the polish.  This has a foil-like finish as opposed to a glittery one.

This one did not speak to me.  It’s a nice collection – but it’s just that, nice……

I love bolder, brighter, more vibesy colours.  So great…..this allows me to save for the upcoming summer stuff. :-)!

Here are a few swatches……….

M.A.C.'s Liberty of London: A review

So this limited edition collection has come out in both the US and internationally.  Here are my 2 cents.

I love the packaging, they did a good job on this one.  The white background with the floral and bird motif works really well.  Even the inside of the boxes were printed with a multi-coloured floral pattern.  For those people that like to collect limited edition packaging from M.A.C., you won’t be disappointed.

For the rest of you, this is a good collection, not great but good.  A lot of the colours are dupable, but there were a few standouts.

1) Blue India Nail Lacquer –  The message boards have been buzzing about this one for months!  A beautiful, midtone tealish blue creme with a greyed effect.  Hot!!! Would really look good as a pedicure colour.
