This year’s Makeup Show was epic! There were a lot of brand new companies, as well as more established companies launching their pro lines. This time, I was most interested in the education part of the show. There were some fantastic makeup artists in attendance giving of their knowledge and experiences. There was a lot to learn but the one thing that I walked away with was,
“Don’t give up on yourself!” – Ashunta Sheriff
And this was the premiere of the “Icon Gallery”. An exhibit celebrating the pioneers and icons of makeup artistry. This year, Kevyn Aucoin was honoured. He is one of my early personal favourites and was the best at that time!
Check out some of the amazing stuff!

I.CANNOT.WAIT! – A preview of the new Charlotte Tilbury collection which is debuting in the US in August!!!

Brushes by makeup artist Wayne Goss – available at Beautylish (in the US). You guys should check out his YouTube channel, gossmakeupartist. He’s amazing!

blackUP Cosmetics – making its entry into the US. French made makeup, specially suited to the needs of women of colour. Fantastic pigmentation! Definitely worth checking out!

Gorgeous blushes and eye shadows by Troy Surratt – his palettes are customizable as the products are available in tiles.

Troy Surratt, James Vincent, Nick Barose. Three amazing artists that are quite down to earth! Btw, you may have seen some of Nick’s work recently (yup, Lupita Nyong’o’s!)

Me, and makeup artist Ashunta Sheriff. A wonderful woman, who continues to challenge herself and inspires others. She has worked on everyone in the hip hop world including Alicia Keys. She now has her own line of foundations, Perfect Blend.
