So here’s an update on my protective styling. For those who don’t know, I pretty much live in protective styles because when it comes to my hair, I 1) am kinda lazy when it comes to styling, 2) like the convenience, 3) don’t like to wear my hair out when it’s cold (which is at least 75% of the year). I wear a twisted style one week, then a twist-out bun the next, wash, repeat. Get it?? Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE buying hair products, testing them out, but I have not that creative with styling. So I’m trying to bust out of that.
Here is my usual protective style, a two-strand cornrowed flat twist:

Then a few weeks ago, I decided to throw everyone off a do regular two-strand twists on freshly washed hair.
Two strand twists
I sectioned my hair into quadrants then I had 8 twists per quadrant. Did not part with a comb. I got a lot of compliments when I wore them in a ponytail, so it’s a keeper!

Truth be told, part of the reason why I never did any other styles is that after more than 2 years, I.am.still. transitioning! And my ends were knarly. Since most of my ends have been cut off/broken off, my twists have a chance at staying.
Here is the twistout after 1 week.
Twist out
I need to work on ends as they came out frizzy. That may be because of the way I unraveled the twists. As a matter of fact there was a lot of frizz , but I actually don’t mind that. Gives character.
Any suggestions for my ends (besides the obvious)?
Laters!

Your hair looks great!!! I myself am natural and have been trying to find various styles for my hair. This past saturday I did the two strand twists to my hair and some cornrows in the front. I have twisted my hair in the past but I got a better results using the Jane Carter leave in conditioner with their wrap and roll lotion/mouse. It left my hair very soft and the twists when taken out were very defined and had no frizz. I will say it all depends on the texture of your hair but it is worth a… Read more »
