Make Up For Ever does HD…Not Retouched!!!

This week, Make Up For Ever launched its HD NOT RETOUCHED campaign.  Everyone knows (or should know) that these days ads, photos and videos are retouched.  You may be surprised at how much is done, lashes drawn in, fine lines and wrinkles erased, dimples eradicated, pretty much the subject is made perfect.  So folks should not even stress out trying to look like a model in a magazine, ‘cuz a lot of it is not real.  By highlighting their HD line, they hope to show that anyone could get makeup with a flawless finish.

BECCA brings beautiful skin!

Hey!

Today I’m going to review the Aussie cosmetics line BECCA.  I was first introduced to this line years ago when they were sold at Bergdorf Goodman in NYC.  What initially attracted me to this line, was the array of foundation colours! I literally did a double take, an Australian line, with a pretty extensive colour range? Whaaaaaat!

Then they kinda disappeared.  They were only available online.  Then sometime last year, I discovered that they reappeared at some of the rebranded Duane Reade pharmacies.

So here is a little background on the brand.  According to the website:

“The whole philosophy of BECCA is about creating a natural, flawless look. It’s really about skin looking amazing – everything else is secondary.”
– Rebecca Morrice Williams, Founder

So they’re really into flawless skin for people of ALL races, ethnicities, ages and they really focus on perfecting the skin.  Their 3-step system consists of Preparing, Perfecting and Setting.  Their products contain antioxidants vitamins, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties, also advanced pigment technology (for a weightless, natural finish) and broad spectrum SPF.  They have this beachy, barely-there, easy-going vibe that I like.

I have tested out 4 products.

M.A.C. Collection: Jeanius

Last of the 3 new collections coming out on March 3rd.  This one is a full colour collection that is limited edition collection which is demin-inspired called Jeanius.

Jeanius is a celebration of the journey America made a national obsession. M∙A∙C keeps up with a Jeanius collection of moody blues and indigo ink, the quantum of modern cool, with four new limited-life denimized Eye Shadows, Lipglass, Blush and Biker Blue Nail Lacquer. Completely riveting.

MAC Collection: Sheen Supreme Lipstick

Here is the 2nd collection that will be released in M.A.C. stores and counters on March 3rd in the U.S.  This will also become part of the permanent collection.  They are supposed to be a sort of hybrid between lipstick and lipgloss, similar to the Slimshines (which are now discontinued).  They are already available online on the M.A.C. website and they retail for US $14.50. Available internationally later on in March.

Gloss is good but there is nothing quite as wonderfully, worldly, cinematic as a lipstick – and they’re coming back!  We’ve updated formulas to make it all plausible.  Sheen Supreme is the combination of the strong, sensually saturated color of, say, Tilda Swinton’s I Am Love Milanese lipstick, leavened with that light feel and clear vibrancy the see though sheen of a modern New York City Girl Gloss.  Imagine no muddy undertones gliding in pearl or creme finish, moisturizing with no sticky/tacky feel.  It’s a new medium, with MAC in the lead.  This is retro/modern-and devastatingly chic.

M.A.C. Collection – Cremeblend Blush

On March 3rd, M.A.C. is releasing a brand new collection of creme blushes that are being added to their permanent collection.  Finally, something that I don’t have to rush out to get!!!  I love creme blushes and I can’t wait to swatch these! Great for those with dry skin or who live in a humid climate.  These are very similar to the creme blushes that came out with the M.A.C. in Lillyland collection.

There are six very basic, neutral colours to start with.  Nothing to bright or bold.
