How to get full, natural looking eyebrows – a tutorial

They say the eyebrows frame the face. If your brows are not done, it does not matter what fantastic cut crease, halo eye that you do, it will not look ‘done’. In the past few years, the “Instagram” eyebrow seems to be the go-to style. Growing up, women often plucked their eye brows thin. Eyebrow styles constantly change, but having a natural, full looking eyebrow never goes out of style. I am jealous of people who were born with full dark brows. Mine are thin and not very dark. But I work with what I have, and I think that I have perfected getting a full, natural brow. There are no sharp lines, no concealer, just my brows but fuller.

Maybelline The Burgundy Bar Review: The hottest drugstore palette is here!

Maybelline The Burgundy Bar Review: The palette is finally stateside! It was released in Europe a few months ago and people have been raving! It has been a long time since I have heard this much hype over a drugstore palette. This is a continuation of “The Bar” line that Maybelline and it has arrived in the US. I am not sure if they had originally planned to have a U.S. release, but a few weeks ago, while browsing Twitter, I saw that Maybelline was directly linking to and selling this palette on Amazon! So, that surprised me a little bit and I was not aware of this. I had to get a few other items so the palette was added to my shopping cart.

This is a 12-shade palette – 10 shimmers and 2 matte. Most of the shades are champagnes, taupes and brown neutrals with a few red-toned shades. My favourite shade in the palette is the deep, rich burgundy one on the second row. The shimmer shades definitely have reflects, but none of them are glittery. There are only two matte shades, a medium taupe and a cool dark brown. According to Maybelline, the palette gives 13 different looks and it is broken up into 3 quads, or 4 trios or 5 duos. The ways the colours are arranged, adjacent colours in the quad trio or duo are meant to be used together.

Carnival makeup 2018: The Lost Tribe “Virginia” inspired look

We are in the throws of Trinidad & Tobago Carnival 2018! Fetes are ramping up and the debate over the Road March continues. Are you #TeamSavannah or #TeamKingdom?

There are hundreds of thousands of people playing mas this year, so I decided to finally film a Carnival makeup look. I have definitely done looks in the past on my blog, but I have never posted one on YouTube. I decided to get inspiration from the section “Virginia” from The Lost Tribe Carnival “7 Sisters” 2018 offering. A pretty light blue costume with gold accents. I also looked at the makeup looks done at the Lost Tribe launch done by global makeup artist for M.A.C. and one of my faves, Romero Jennings.

Here’s how it turned out….

How to easily tie your African headwrap – Headwrap tutorial

Quick video here!

I wear a headwrap fairly often. Mostly when it is warmer. And many times when I appear on camera. I am still learning but I decided to record a headwrap tutorial! This is my favourite way to tie my headwrap – and it is easy and stays put. I also give a great tip! I will continue to discover styles and I will share those with you.

There are two brands that make quality headwraps that I like to buy.  They are founded my black women so you know I have to support.  They are Fanm Djanm and The Wrap Life.  I have to pick up a few more this year.  Let me know your favourite placy to buy quality headwraps.  Put it in the comments below.

So check out the video and let me know what you think.

This one was limited edition, but there are plenty of gorgeous ones to chose from.

How do you tie your headwrap? Is there a meaning in the way you tie your headwrap?

How To: A bold graphic eyeliner & waterproof makeup tutorial

For the past few weeks, I have been discussing on the blog, different options to waterproof your makeup. Now time to put it all together! This waterproof makeup tutorial uses some of my favourite products and brands, and some that are new to me. A graphic blue liner look! I kept the rest of the look simple and neutral. This can be worn with your Carnival costume or if you are just feeling a little bold! Of course you could chose the liner colour of your choice. And take your time!
