Semi Precious haul & swatches!!

[twitter-follow screen_name=’NoireTropicalB’]

Here are a few swatches of what I hauled from M.A.C.’s Semi Precious collection.  I am a true sucka for their mineralized eye shadows.  For whatever reason, the texture and quality is never consistent from collection to collection.  Sometimes they are flaky, chunky, not heavily pigmented and often they look pretty in the pan than on the lid.  So I had to make sure to choose wisely.

Across the collection of eye shadows, they have varying levels of pigmentation and many of colours are not unique.  They were all very smooth in texture and have varying amounts of marbling so that two eye shadow pans could give slightly different colours.

I loved the jewelled themed collection and was of course drawn to the darker colours.

I first got Dark Indulgence, which is a dark, sooty emerald green melanged with black.

Introducing OCC Tint

Hey!

Last Friday I had the privilegde of attending the launch of Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics’ new line of tinted moisturizers called OCC Tint.  This event took place at the Wonderland Beauty Parlour in the Meatpacking District.  What a great way to start off the weekend, playing with makeup!

OCC continues to expand its OCC Skin product line (they introduced a line of vegan brushes this year) and this time they have focused on lightweight makeup suitable for today’s hi-definition standards.

According to OCC:

OCC Tint, our hand-applied tinted moisturizer boasts an unparalleled amount of adjustable coverage, available in a wide range of ultra-moisturizing shades that look as great in person as they do in close-up on HDTV and in a hi-res digital photograph. This alternative to airbrush application is already a Make-Up Artists’ favorite, recently field-tested by the Artists at OCC during New York and Los Angeles Fashion Week.

Mini Stila haul and swatches!!!

So as I previously mentioned, I did a little damage at IMATS and picked up a few items from Stila Cosmetics.

So the first things I went for were the Long Wear Liquid Lip Color.  Felicia from ThisThatBeauty rocks Fiery, a deep red matte lip colour ALL OF THE TIME! And it looks great on her, so course  I had to have it.  I met Bethany Townes and she was wearing a gorgeous fuschia colour and it turned out to be Caprice. Here are the swatches:

Top: Caprice, bottom: Fiery

BECCA brings beautiful skin!

Hey!

Today I’m going to review the Aussie cosmetics line BECCA.  I was first introduced to this line years ago when they were sold at Bergdorf Goodman in NYC.  What initially attracted me to this line, was the array of foundation colours! I literally did a double take, an Australian line, with a pretty extensive colour range? Whaaaaaat!

Then they kinda disappeared.  They were only available online.  Then sometime last year, I discovered that they reappeared at some of the rebranded Duane Reade pharmacies.

So here is a little background on the brand.  According to the website:

“The whole philosophy of BECCA is about creating a natural, flawless look. It’s really about skin looking amazing – everything else is secondary.”
– Rebecca Morrice Williams, Founder

So they’re really into flawless skin for people of ALL races, ethnicities, ages and they really focus on perfecting the skin.  Their 3-step system consists of Preparing, Perfecting and Setting.  Their products contain antioxidants vitamins, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties, also advanced pigment technology (for a weightless, natural finish) and broad spectrum SPF.  They have this beachy, barely-there, easy-going vibe that I like.

I have tested out 4 products.

Intro to Illamasqua and review

Hey!

Here is a review  for a few Illamasqua products.  I have been attracted to this brand since they debuted at Sephora in the US.  I like their edgy, not-so-safe vibe.  Their Fall/Autumn 2010 collection really caught my eye!!

Anyway as I mentioned here, their latest collection is the Throb Collection, in honour of Valentine’s Day and I have had the chance to review two items.

Succubus Intense Lipgloss – This comes in a slim, squeeze tube with a slanted applicator.
