It’s 2018. I am so glad for 2017 to be finally done! It has been a long year. Even though it was a challenging year, there were some bright spots. Including some products that I fell in love with. This is my year-end review of the best beauty products 2017 that I tried. Most of these products are brand new to me and many were new products to the market. I fell in love with these products and will continue to reach for them in 2018. Some of these I have reviewed and some I have not. I will definitely be getting more detailed reviews soon!
We are already at the end of November! This year has flown. I am looking forward to 2018, but before we get there, there is some shopping to do. Thanksgiving in the US and hence the start of a frantic 6 week shopping season beginning with Black Friday. There is also Small Business Saturday, focused on supporting your local small businesses. It seems as though companies are starting earlier and earlier with the sales.
Here are some beauty and haircare sales that I think are interesting. I will continue to add as I discover more deals!
Before you start shopping, check out Honey and Ebates. Ebates gives you cash back on many of the places that you shop both online and in-stores. Honey scavenges for coupon codes and applies then automatically. This is not a sponsored post, but I do have affiliate links listed below. Winged liner. One of the most requested and desired makeup looks. It was one of the first things I taught myself how to do when I was really getting into makeup. There are many different ways that you can draw that perfect ‘cat-eye’ and it is the best way to completely change your look and eye shape. A good winged eye, as with any other makeup look, is much easier to achieve with great tools. That does not mean you have to buy the most expensive brushes, but find tools that you can afford and allows you to achieve the look that you are going for.
When I was learning how to draw on liner, I initially started with pencils. I quickly moved to liquid liner with a felt tip. Then I started using cake and gel liners. I love playing with the different textures and achieving different effects. This video and post are about the different types of brushes that you can use to apply gel and cake eyeliners. What I am trying to convey is that it is not necessarily important to buy a certain brand, but look at the various options you have, experiment and pick a brush that makes it easy for you to use.
Best Eyeliner Brushes – TIPS
Look for synthetic brushes as they work better with wetter products like gels. Natural hairs are fine but they may break while using.
Look for thinner brushes. This allows you to get really close to the lashline.

Everyone loves the look of full, lush lashes! We spend millions of dollars a year buying mascaras or going to the salon to get individual lashes installed. I myself cannot live without mascara and I often have at least two tubes open at any given time. I usually crave the biggest, baddest lashes. The more volume the better. I don’t really care for curling and I like length, but I love volume. So here are my picks for the 8 best volumizing mascaras that you must try. There’s a mix of drugstore and high-end so you are bound to find something that you like.
Best Volumizing Mascara – Tips
When I am picking a mascara, there are a few things that I look for:
The blackest and sootiest of blacks. Because of my dark skin, I love wearing the blackest shade that I can find. I have no time for soft blacks or browns.
Full mascara brush – I really like a traditional mascara brush. Especially if it is on the larger side. I am not a crazy fan of the plastic, comb-style brushes. I love the fullness that they give.
Long wearing – but washable. I don’t want the mascara to flake off, especially after an intense workout. I don’t do waterproof mascaras.
Let me know what is your favourite mascara in the comments.
Laters!
